The closer I get to completing the visuals on my film, the more I feel like it will fail under the pressure of its own ambition. Never did I imagine that something that seems so simple could be so ridiculously complicated… lesson learned, degree ruined.

So, I’m sat in the movie theatre as I write, settling in for my second viewing of the avengers movie. Yeah, I’m a geek! And what?!

It might be the lack of sleep. It might. I was playing Journey you see. With a first time player, I think. Right from the beginning, which isn’t usual from what I gather. Call me stupid, call me crazy but even though I couldn’t talk properly with the person on the other side, given that communication is delivered by a series of musical notes, I really felt a connection with them. We went through the game together, seeing the same things I’ve seen before, but each thing had a new wonder about it because I was with someone else. Not like the other players, this player was content to travel together, waiting if I fell behind and vice versa.Even sent me a message after to say thank you.

As I said, call me stupid, call me crazy, call me a soppy old fool if you want to, but it made my day.

I’m so busy all the time at the minute, concentrating on assignments and what the hell I’m going to do with my life that I think I’ve stopped giving time to my emotional needs. Always so tense, stressed and angry and this experience indicates that perhaps I’m just not allowing myself the time to interact and really enjoy what’s going on around me with the people I enjoy being with. I love that such a wonderfully simple, yet beautifully crafted game is capable of evoking such a response.

It has been soooooooooooo long since I went to watch a movie. Is going by yourself acceptable these days?
